ABOUT US
mISSION sTATEMENT
Telephone Aid Line Kingston (TALK) is a confidential, anonymous, and non-judgmental volunteer-based support service. Our aim is to meet the needs of a diverse population by providing an empowering, empathetic, and safe environment through the provision of a listening phone service, as well as community outreach and education.
Our Volunteers
All of our volunteers are 18+, who believe listening makes a difference and can be a valuable service to anyone. Our volunteers do not give advice; we provide support and a safe place to talk.
History
Telephone Aid Line Kingston (TALK) is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization. We have been serving the Kingston area for over 40 years. TALK was started by a group of people who believed in the value of a listening phone service. We were originally known as Telephone Aid Kingston (TAK). In 1973, the first call was answered. In the 1980s, we became an accredited member of Distress Centres Ontario. In the 1990s, we officially changed our name to Telephone Aid Line Kingston (TALK).

TALK continues to work to provide various services to meet the changing needs of the community. Our funds come from various initiatives. Everything we provide is free of charge.
